You couldn't wait for the cake and ice cream to be over so you could go play with friends. Well, it's Tex Farrell's birthday, so we're throwing a disc golf party at Delt Church Park and you're invited! Join us for the first PDGA sanctioned disc golf tournament at Delt Church Park. The disc golf course has made major updates to the layout and added new baskets and tee pads in the past few years. Tex and I are teaming up to bring competitive disc golf to this underserved area. TOURNAMENT The Tex Flex is a true amateur event, consisting of one18-hole round of disc golf singles. This PDGA C-Tier event will use a flex start. All registered competitors will play one round on the day of the event between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. CONTESTS We will have putting, accuracy and distance contests for you to try before or after your disc golf round. You do not need to play in the tournament to participate in the contests. We will have more information coming soon. FLY MART AND TRADING POST Bring your discs and disc golf merchandise to sell or trade. You may set up before, during or after your round beginning at 11 a.m. Your space must be cleaned up by 8:00 p.m. We will have more information coming soon. CASUAL PLAY The course will be open for casual play for those who choose not to enter the tournament. Cards may not mix tournament and casual players during an official scoring round. DIVISIONS The PDGA offers divisions based on skill level as well as age gender protected divisions. For help on choosing a division consult PDGA.com or contact the tournament director. The tournament director reserves the right to combine divisions of less than three players. However, in divisions with less than three players, trophies will be limited to first place only. The TD will also open a requested division with a minimum of three players. RATINGS You may play "up" but you may not play "down" a division. Player rating classifications will be strictly enforced. You will be moved to the appropriate division should your May rating affect your division registration at the time. Any pros wishing to play for cash payouts must compete in the Gold division. Pros wanting to play as amateurs may do so in the appropriate division but will only receive merchandise (trophy) as a payout. They must also meet any and all PDGA eligibility rules for "pros playing amateur." PRACTICE The course will be open for practice rounds prior to and on the day of the event prior to the start time. It's feasible that you could practice a few holes after noon, but you will need to navigate tournament players. FLEX PLAY You may form your own group once all card mates have checked in and begin your round. If you do not have a card the tournament director will help place you in a group. You may play in groups of three or four players. You may mix divisions within your group. You must be registered for the event to play in a group. All official rounds must be completed by 8:00 p.m. Registration is required to play in the event and on a tournament card. Non-players may caddie. Only one caddy per player. Casual players should be mindful of the event and the expectation of player conduct during tournament rounds. PLAYER PACK All ams will receive a small disc golf related item. SIDE GAMES CTP prizes for all amateur divisions. Optional Ace Fund and 50/50 Cash CTP. FINANCES - PER PLAYER Entry - $10 (non-PDGA members add $15 for a one-day membership) Player pack - $5 (Amateurs only) PDGA fees - $3 Greens fees - $2 (rental and permitting) PAYOUTS This is a trophy only true amateur event for all amateur divisions.
