21st Annual Black Fly Fling powered by Northern Bugwear

We are excited to once again to welcome players to beautiful South River! We will be hosting events all week long starting with our Basket Challenge aimed at locals and players. Baskets will be spread out around South River at local businesses and participants will travel to the locations and make a putt and get your stamp card stamped. Fill the whole card and be entered for the grand prize! This event engages the town and increases exposure for the sport all while supporting local businesses. After that we will be hosting an Intro to Disc Golf event on Thursday May 16th . This event entices new players to come and try out the sport and get some free stuff. This event last year saw all age categories, brought locals who have wondered but never played. We gained a few new league members and some course regulars as families and retirees used the gifted discs to enjoy the sport. On the Friday May 17th we will be running our annual random doubles event! Each year players that can come a little early to enjoy some casual play on the course. Can be a great way to meet new people and have some practice shots in an informal setting. This event boasts prizes and payouts that make for a special night. We will have access to the South River Legion throughout the weekend in the evenings and this will act as a secondary HQ to the course HQ. Friday after doubles you’re more than welcome to come back to brewery to cap off a wonderful evening. Saturday May 18th will be the kick off for the sanctioned event. Players reg at 8, players meeting at 8:30, and first round will shotgun start at 9am. Sherri’s and The Red Canoe are local restaurants that are open at 7am for breakfast and coffee if that’s helpful for some players. The restaurants are 5mins from the course and most likely on your travel route into the course. First round will likely take 2 hours and we plan to take lunch at 11:30 - 12:30 Will kick off second round at 12:30 - 1pm. Looking to finish around 2:30 - 3pm for the day. After that will take some time to decompress after the round, joke around in the parking lot and catch up with friends. Will head out from the to brewery for 4pm. The players event at the South River Legion will commence at 4pm. We will have the excellent live music back with Blake, Cole and friends. These are local high school students and disc golfers that also love performing and they really impressed us last year. Certainly a special touch they kill some covers you didn’t see coming. Of course will have games set up outside such as putting games, ace races, etc. There will be food available either on site or a very short walk from the brewery. We are working towards a catered dinner for the players and will update as that develops. That will lead us into Sunday May 19th final day of competition. Same time schedule as Saturday for players meeting, round starts, and lunch. After that will again head back to the Legion for closing ceremonies and raffles. We try to make the process as quick and painless while still highlighting players achievements. This event always continues to grow and expand and as things develop, updates will be sent to players.
