Dispatch from your new club president: Welcome to the grand kickoff event of 2024, hosted by the Salt Lake City Tunnel Runners Disc Golf Club! We're rolling out the welcome mat for both our returning legends and those brave souls ready to join the lively journey of disc golf madness. This event marks the official start of the season, and we're hoping for some decent weather this year. It's the tag opener, where we encourage you to join the club and unlock the mysteries of our exclusive membership perks. Picture this: low cost c-tier events that promise more thrills than a rollercoaster, trophy pins to make your bag sparkle with bling. PDGA rated rounds for an affordable cost while earning points in the series. The only big difference in the point series is that the club championship tournament will be worth DOUBLE POINTS! Prices for tournaments this year may be slightly higher in some cases due to increased costs of running events. For example, Taylorsville is requiring renting portable restrooms during the off season and an increased permit cost. Previous champions, this is your golden opportunity to defend your title with the kind of bravado that would make a disc blush. If you're a newbie, well, brace yourself for a wild ride in the exhilarating whirlwind of low stakes competitive disc golf. Cheers to another year of flinging, flying, and fun! -Elias McQuaid SLCTR - President ------------------------------- About the tournament ------------------------------- IMPORTANT! - Check-in is mandatory. One round. Tee times. Prizes: AMs will play for tags and a trophy pin. Pros will play for tags, cash, and a trophy pin. Ties for first place in each division will result in a sudden death playoff. Sudden-death play is a format where the player or players with the lowest score on a hole move on to the next hole and all other players are eliminated. When only one player has the lowest score on a hole, that player has won the tiebreaker and sudden-death play is over. The Official Rules of Disc Golf and the Competition Manual apply during sudden-death play, but the throws do not accrue to the players' scores. Juniors will be able to compete at this event for a trophy pin, but they will not be assigned a Junior Tag. The tag opener for juniors will be in the spring. You will have the option to pay for full membership for your junior ($20) if desired, and they will get an adult tag at this event. Tags: Ace Pot: There is a tournament ace pot ($2) that is offered for each course. If the ace is not hit at one or both courses, the pot will be pushed to the next club XC-tier event. The super-ace can be claimed at either course and will be split in the case of multiple aces. Important Note for players under 13 Participants under 13 years of age, per the PDGA Competition Manual for Disc Golf Events. Any player younger than 13 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian regardless of the division they play in. A single parent or guardian may be responsible for multiple junior players in the same group if agreed upon by all of the parents/guardians prior to the start of the round.
