Sideling Hill Soiree

This is going to be the first PDGA-sanctioned tournament for the Allegany County Disc Golf Club. We'll do our best to make sure you have a positive experience, from registration to the awards ceremony. The club specializes in pairing a low-key atmosphere with friendly, high-level competition. This event will be assisted by the Miners Disc Golf Club. Focused on Juniors - Though open to all amateurs, this event will cater to Juniors competitors. We think you're gonna have a great time! Club competition - For Juniors (MJ/FJ18 and below) only - Between 3 and 7 competitors per team - If more than 7, can have a "varsity" and "JV" team - Team competition at no extra charge - Club coordinator: Please email [email redacted] for details. Volunteers - The success of this event relies heavily on a small but dedicated group of volunteers. If you want to spend part of your Memorial Day weekend enjoying the great outdoors with great food and music, and awesome people, please send an email to [email redacted] with your information. - We'll need people to fill positions at check-in, during the awards ceremony, and "disc spotting" during the event, among other areas. Sponsors - This event will not be possible without the support of local businesses and organizations that seek to support a competitive opportunity for athletes of all ages. - Stay tuned for sponsorship opportunities. Registration - Cap of 45 players for this event. Entry fee - $20 for adult divisions - $15 for Juniors divisions - Entry includes lifetime club membership (which makes you eligible for future club discounts) - Current Allegany County Disc Golf Club members in good standing are eligible to receive a discounted entry. Please email [email redacted] for the code. - $15 additional for non-PDGA members. We hope to have this fee waived for all Juniors players (those in Juniors divisions, at least) - CTPs for each general division (Women's, Juniors, and Men's) included Format - Round 1: 9 from the short tees, 9 from the long tees - Round 2: 18 from the short tees Divisions - If you don't see a division you'd like to sign up for, please email [email redacted] to request it. Timeline - Details TBD - Sunset is 8:29 p.m. on May 24, 2025. - Round 1 will begin at 1 p.m., break for about an hour, then Round 2 having a late-afternoon start to end early evening. - Having a non-morning start time allows families/players from across the region to travel safely to Little Orleans in a timely manner. The delayed start time also allows younger players the opportunity to perform at their peak instead of being drowsy through the first round. Scoring - All players must keep score - Most players will use the PDGA scoring app - It is encouraged that one player on each card use uDisc - All players must have a free uDisc account - Paper scorecards are available at player's request - Request for paper scorecards must be made no later than 12 noon on Thursday, May 22, 2025 by email to - [email redacted] Tiebreakers - See PDGA Competition Manual 1.09 - For first place in each/every division, as applicable - Sudden death: Hole 9 until a winner (repeating Hole 9 as necessary) Player packs (updated 12-30-2024) - The main item will be a 32-ounce aluminum water bottle with custom print. - Club membership is an added value for non-yet-members Awards - TBD Location - Locust Post Brewery (LPB) is the host site. The brewery is located at 31706 Old Adams Road NE in Little Orleans (eastern Allegany County), Maryland. The course is located only 7 miles from the well-known Sideling Hill mountain cut that essentially separates "Mountain Maryland" from the rest of the state. - LPB is only 1 hour from Winchester (Va.), 70 minutes from Frederick (Md.), 90 minutes from Morgantown (W.Va.), less than 2 hours from Baltimore (Md.), and about 2 hours and 15 minutes from Pittsburgh (Pa.). About the course - This is a 9-hole course. Holes 1-8 have both a short and long tee. Hole 9 short and long plays from the same tee. - Tunnel shots, elevation changes, protected baskets and ace runs are what you can expect here. Oh, and trees. Lots of trees on holes 4, 5, 6 and 7 on each loop. - Holes 1, 2, 3, 8 and 9 on each loop are open (though 1 and 3 do have some guardian trees). Holes 4, 5, 6 and 7 are in the woods. Practice / Course availability - The course sits on private property. - Hours of availability are restricted. Please respect that. - The course is closed from Thanksgiving (Nov. 28) through Dec. 31 each year for the hunting season. - The Allegany County Disc Golf Club hosts a number of league dates at the brewery.
