The 2025 Challenge at Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden - A HDGA Club Members Only Event

Aloha HDGA Family, I am happy to announce that this year’s HDGA Challenge will be a members only event. We have seen exponential growth of our club and the sport as a whole! Mahalo for helping to grow our community! If you haven’t already joined the club for 2025 now is the time before registration opens! If you are NOT a 2025 HDGA member you can help support the club and get access to this event by joining now for the rest of 2025 OR purchase a temporary membership for just the Challenge ($15). All registrants MUST be a club member (2025 or temporary) and PDGA member (2025 or temporary) to participate. If you register and are not a member, you will be offered to purchase a membership prior to removal from the event and a refund minus processing fees. You can also help support by getting 1 of 10 early sponsor registrations (+$100) to guarantee your spot in the event, getting your name or logo on the shirt (+$75) or sponsoring a hole (+$50). If you want both the shirt and a hole it will be (+$100). You will be able to add these on to your registration or feel free to email [email redacted]. Join the Honolulu Disc Golf Association (HDGA) for the Third Annual Challenge at Ho'omaluhia. This is a PDGA XC Tier event that will be held at the beautiful Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. Come experience this challenging temporary course setup just for this event! Where is Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden? The Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden is located at 45-680 Luluku Road, Kāne'ohe, Oahu, Hawaii 96744. The two-day event will include One round of 27 holes on Saturday and ONE round of 18 on Sunday. The final determination of the rounds played each day will be determined at tee-off, at the discretion of the tournament director. Early sponsored registration will begin Saturday February 15 8pm; Registration for underserved divisions will begin Saturday February 22 at 8pm and all other divisions will open February 24 8pm. Female divisions with no players registered by March 1 9pm will be removed from the registration. Waitlists will be maintained by pool (Pros,Ams) and used to fill vacancies. April 11, 2 weeks prior to the event we will attempt to add as many players from the waitlist as possible to cards. In all cases PDGA rules will be followed for early registration and divisions. Scoring will be on PDGA LIVE. Players Meeting will be digital and a link will be emailed to all registered players as well as posted on the HDGA facebook page. Event Format: Saturday, April 27: Player Check-In: 9:30 at the Kahua Nui Pavilion Shotgun Start 10:15 am Sunday, April 28: Player Check-In: 9:30 am sharp at the Kahua Nui Pavilion. Shotgun start: 10:00 am Practice Round and/or Doubles on Friday, April 26: Practice Round: We should have the course available for practice or to hold a doubles round, by mid-afternoon on Friday, April 26 (time: TBD). It depends on how much assistance we have setting up the course. Keep checking the HDGA Facebook page closer to the event date for more details. Set up- begins at 9am Friday. CAMPING WILL BE AVAILABLE ($15) FOR REGISTERED PLAYERS (FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY NIGHT), ON A FIRST COME FIRST BASIS, IN CAMPSITES AT KAHUA NUI MAKAI. WE EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE UP TO 60 CAMPERS, AND EXPECT TO HAVE PARKING PASSES FOR 18 CARS. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CAMPING SO WE CAN ADD YOUR NAME TO OUR LIST WHEN YOU REGISTER. YOU MUST BE STAYING OVERNIGHT TO RECEIVE A CAMPING PARKING PASS. ANYONE FOUND WITH A CAMPING PARKING PASS FROM HDGA THAT IS NOT STAYING OVERNIGHT WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE EVENT AND FORFEIT ALL EXPENSES PAID. Parking Pass for the Weekend: Please make sure on your way into the park to remember to pick up a parking pass for the weekend. All cars are required to have a parking pass if they are in the park after 4:00 PM. You are more likely than not going to be in the park past 4pm. Passes will be available from the visitor center and potentially from a worker who will be assisting us from the gardens. Gate Openings: The gate at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden is open daily from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, cars with permits or car passes may use these later gate times below: Openings: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm (entrance and exits) 9:00 pm – 9:15 pm (for exits only) TOP FINISHERS IN THE AMATEUR DIVISIONS WILL WIN PRIZES. TOP FINISHERS IN THE PRO DIVISIONS WILL WIN CASH. THE ACE POT WILL BE $5 PER DAY. IF NOBODY HITS AN ACE DURING THE OFFICIAL ROUNDS, THERE WILL BE TWO CTP THROW-OFFS FOR THE CASH. THERE WILL BE ONE CTP EACH DAY. CTPs will be paid in PRIZES. The Awards Ceremony will take place immediately following the event, once all scorecards have been verified and will also include the Ace Pot throwoff if needed.
