WELCOME to Throwing Down the Gauntlet at McDade, an Armory Disc Golf Gold Tier Event Sponsored by MVP Disc Sports! This functions as a stand alone tournament (payouts as normal, etc) PLUS earns points towards the Throwing Down the Gauntlet season tour, a year-long points series of tournaments held across Texas that culminates in our Invitational Championship in November (see below for more info) Throwing Down the Gauntlet 2024 Winners for each division will receive an AUTOMATIC bid to the End of Season Championship, where they will compete for $1000s in added cash + prizes! There will be a 2x point multiplier for this event for Throwing Down the Gauntlet Season Points Standings Information on Throwing Down the Gauntlet 2024 can be found here: https://armorydiscgolf.com/pages/throwing-down-the-gauntlet-2024 -This will be a 2 round event, with both rounds being held at McDade Park in Conroe, TX Tournament Day - Round 1 will start @ 9am with a players meeting at 8:30 am - Players Pack for all Amateur divisions will be provided. CUSTOM WORK from MVP Disc Sports and Armory Disc Golf - Hole assignments will be listed on the Armory Disc Golf Facebook page and at tournament central near the practice basket - There will be a ~1.5ish hour lunch break after last card is turned in, and round 2 will start promptly after. Check our Facebook page or PDGA event page for the exact start time of the second round - A Pool will play from long tees both rounds (with special alternate pins Round 2) - B Pool will play from mixed tees Round 1 (Hole 11 short) - B Pool will play from long tees Round 2 (with special alternate pin positions in Round 2) - B Pool will consist of MA50+ divisions (edit: MA60+), all female divisions, MA3+, and MJ15 - A Pool will consist of all other divisions - Round 2 Alternate Pins: Hole 2 will be pushed back and to the right about 50 feet and will remain a Par 3 as a longer, more demanding woods shot. If fairway conditions allow, we will move Hole 6 pin up and to the right (with a temp basket) and move the teepad up the fairway. This will make the hole play shorter, but with more OB danger than the traditional tee and pin placement. B Pool will play Hole 11 long in Round 2 (as opposed to the short position in Round 1). A Pool will play the long position both rounds. Hole 13 and 14 will be combined into a Par 4. There will be a “mando right” of the final tree on the left side of (what is normally) Hole 13’s fairway, and then we will place a temp basket down the fairway of (what is normally) Hole 14. We are estimating this hole to be ~530ft and there will be OB flagged on the treeline long from the tee (right side of normal Hole 14). This will be marked as Hole 13 for the second round. (see attached pic, exact basket location may vary slightly) Hole 14 will play from the short pin position, will have OB flagged along the right side, and will have a mando right of the tree on the left side of the fairway. - 6 CTP prizes up for grabs for free (3 each round)! - Mega CTP and Ring of Fire after the second round for free prizes! - Division caps will be lifted 5 days before the tournament begins and waitlist registrants will be added - Divisions less than 3 one week out from the event will not receive a trophy. - Check back in here for more info as the tournament draws near!
