This is the Virginia Interscholastic Disc Golf Association ("VIDGA") Fall 2024 season opener! School-based clubs from across Virginia will be competing in teams using the College Disc Golf scoring format: https://collegediscgolf.com/rules/ Each school club can enter multiple 4-player teams. All players and teams compete in the same MJ18 division, regardless of age or gender. Scoring for each 4-player team is separate from other teams from the same school. So one school could conceivably enter 3 teams and sweep the podium. Or they could have one team finish first place, and another team finish last place in the same event. Multiple teams from the same school will be identified as "(School Name) Team A", "(School Name) Team B", etc. The roster composition of each team from the same school can change over the course of a season without affecting the accumulation of season points for that team. So Team A could roster 4 different players in each event, but it would still be treated as the same team for season scoring purposes. Each 4-player team earns points towards the VIDGA 2024-25 State Championship based on their participation and performance in VIDGA-sanctioned events over the course of the 2024-25 school year. VIDGA-sanctioned events must include teams from 2 or more schools. Those 4-player teams earn 1 point for participating in an event, plus 1 point for each team they outscore in an event. For instance, Team A participates in an event and earns 1 point, plus they outscored 4 other teams, so they earn a total of 5 points for that event. Team B participates in the same event, and earns 1 point, but are outscored by all the other teams in that event, so they only earn the 1 participation point. VIDGA season standings will be posted on vidga.org and updated after the completion of each VIDGA-sanctioned event. Please contact [email redacted] if you have any questions about the VIDGA scoring format prior to registration. This event will be hosted at Pleasant Grove Park in Palmyra, VA. The free public 18-hole disc golf course at Pleasant Grove was installed in the mid-2010s by members of the Blue Ridge Disc Golf Club working in partnership with Fluvanna County Parks & Recreation. The course is maintained by park employees and volunteers, including members of the Flying Flucos Disc Golf Club at Fluvanna County High School. The $10 player registration fees for this event include a required $2 PDGA player fee, with the remainder of the fee covering the $50 PDGA event sanctioning fee, and proceeds going to the Flying Flucos Disc Golf Club and VIDGA to cover the costs of hosting the event, providing awards, and maintaining the course ("greens fee"). Players are not required to be PDGA members, but PDGA membership is strongly encouraged. Only players with current PDGA memberships will receive PDGA ratings for their singles round scores. Join or renew your PDGA membership here: https://www.pdga.com/membership Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 teams placing in this event, based on total team scores for both rounds (singles round plus teams round). Medals will be awarded to the top 3 players placing in the singles round.
